Pima County Supervisors defend a $1 million park and swimming pool bond election saying the plan arose from three years of study by a 25 member advisory group and a three member parks committee. They argue voters should decide and dispute the editorial claim of haste.
Arizona civil engineer Perley M. Lewis testified on how he prepared maps for Arizona's Colorado River water dispute with California. He said colors on maps reflected data from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and interiors and Indian affairs, with "critical Arizona water areas" based on University of Arizona sources, and clarified he used statutory terms rather than personal opinion. Arizona Air National Guard's F 106 fighter interceptor aircraft will go on full time air defense alert July 1.
