Road acts amendment sought for I-710 in Tucson

Tucson leaders plan to push a federal highway act amendment to allow I-710 as a boulevard instead of a freeway. Mayor Murphy said Sen. Fannin and Rep. Rhodes will introduce the measure to permit use of urban revenue sharing funds for a boulevard with medians and bus lanes. The plan aims to protect neighborhoods while keeping federal funds available for mass transit later.

Dugan Convicted of First Degree Murder in Tucson Case

Calvin Lee Dugan, 21, was found guilty of first degree murder and attempted armed robbery in the shooting death of Cecil Taylor, 32, in Sugar Hill Tucson. A second panel deliberated six hours after a mistrial earlier. sentencing set for July 8. The defense may appeal and death penalty is not sought.
