City Loses Appeals In Sewer Fee Refund Cases

The city’s appeals of 53 sewer connection refunds awarded by Justice Court were dismissed by Superior Court for failing to post appeal bonds within 10 days. Refunds total over 1500 dollars. Two earlier appeals were dismissed for under 20 dollar judgments. The city’s Atty Crismon said the appeals protect the city as larger suits loom. The issue stems from Jack G. Marks suit two years ago and new ordinance aims to curb future claims.
