Street Name Group Resigns From Tucson Planning Effort
The citizens street naming and house numbering committee submitted its resignation to the mayor and council after more than four years of work. The panel endorsed the 1949 plan, which was passed in 1952 then repealed, and urged the council to identify them as the original authors while offering future service. The council had previously overruled a motion to disband the committee.

Sabine Canyon Road zoning hearing stirs 700-lot plan
Residents clashed at a public zoning hearing over a proposed 600 to 700 lot subdivision along Sabine Canyon road. Marvin Kratter and Frank A. Weisman pushed to rezone two large acreages to CR districts for half-acre homes with a park, while opponents led by C. John Klimback and Richard Fish urged caution. The session, meant to satisfy state law, drew 40 to 60 attendees, with adjournment leaving about 30. The planning commission may OK the ordinance next, sending it to the supervisors for final hearings and a 90 day waiting period before it takes effect.
