Scientists Find Saturn Moon Ice Reveals Primordial Material
University of Arizona researchers Uwe Fink and David Morrison report that at least five of Saturns ten satellites show surfaces of water ice mixed with dirt. Using infrared spectrometry on UA and Kitt Peak telescopes, they identify Enceladus and four moons Iapetus Rhea Dione Tethys as icy crusts, suggesting these bodies preserve primordial solar system material.
