Second Trial For Costello Opens Today

A second trial for teenager Terrance John Costello on a first degree arson charge began with jury selection in Superior Court. Costello, 19, previously convicted in 1963 and sentenced to five years, had his conviction overturned by the Arizona Supreme Court due to questions about the voluntariness of a confession. He has served nearly two years of the sentence for the 1962 fire that destroyed a $35,000 River Road home owned by J Russell Spann.
