New Group Launches Anti Gun Campaign in Washington

A new group, the National Council for Responsible Firearms Policy, staged a picket at NRA headquarters and started petitions for tougher gun laws. The 18 month old group cites 21 thousand gun murders from 1963 to 1966 and argues rights to gun ownership are not constitutionally guaranteed. Notables on the council include Adlai Stevenson II Charles Taft James Nabrit Jr and John Lindsay. Members advocate strict controls while noting rising gun murders from 1963 to 1965 and comparing 1966 figures.
