Court Dismisses Case Against Evelyn Bruner
Evelyn Ruth Bruner was freed from a charge of involuntary manslaughter by Superior Court Judge Alice Truman on grounds of inconclusive evidence. The defense argued the cause of infant Andrew J. Wolf’s death was not provable as human action. Two physicians testified the suffocation cause could not be definitively external or internal. A coroner’s jury previously ruled the death accidental but unusual, noting bronchial pneumonia. Bruner lived with the Wolfsons and had been under psychiatric care. The case involved appeals over inquest jurisdiction by Justice Jacobson and Judge LaVetter, with the Court of Appeals upholding LaVetter’s right to conduct the inquest.

City trash pickups behind schedule in several neighborhoods
Refuse Superintendent Thomas Price said trash collections are three to four weeks late due to higher volume and a reduced workforce. He cited the area between 1st Avenue and Country Club Road and East Glenn and 36th streets as hardest hit, with residents reporting up to six weeks without a truck. Price blamed pruning season and the Honor Court program for fewer prison laborers, noting a need for 34 prisoners for 33 crews and requesting 15 more paid workers for 1965-66. He stressed ongoing efforts to rotate crews across town and improve service.
