Haiti Military Coup Ousts President Fignol On May Day

In Port au Prince provisional President Daniel Fignole and his cabinet were ousted as Brig. Gen. Antonio Kebreau seized control. The army declared enforcement of governing powers while Fignole and ministers were believed arrested and exiled. Rebels cited loyalty checks and power struggles among ten presidential candidates.

Sundt Submits Low Bid for Tucson Air National Guard Facility

The M. M. Sundt Construction Co. bids 2.54 million dollars to build a 60 acre air guard complex at Tucson Municipal Airport. Maj. Gen. Fraser announces the bid. Sundt aims for a 400 day completion. The project includes a brick hangar, three story annex, ramp, taxiways and rocket storage. The 152nd Fighter-Interceptor Squadron grows to about 380 personnel as F84F fighters replace F86A jets.
