Windborne spider webs sweep San Mateo area
In San Mateo California several housewives had to redo laundry after wind carried light spider webs and some spiders across clotheslines and utilities. County health official Pr Harold D Cope suggested the webs likely originated from a city dump fire torn loose by the updraft from the blaze.

Poison mixup blamed for two Newton hospital deaths
Newton Massachusetts authorities reported a mixup in preparations caused the deaths of two patients at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on Sunday night. Victims Gordon M. McMullen, 53, a hardware dealer, and Mrs Marion C Dumont, 50, a real estate dealer and wife of an automobile dealer, were given a dose of sodium nitrite used to clean instruments. D A Ephraim Martin said the hospital began a thorough investigation with authorities.
