Rugged Mariposa voyage leaves Auckland after Pacific storm
The liner Mariposa, from Rarotonga, arrived in Auckland five hours late after three days of strong head winds and towering seas. Two American passengers and a crewman were hospitalized: Mrs. Emile Hilton fractured her thigh, Mrs. Jessie Heithbecker suffered a heart attack, and crewman W D Randle had a head injury recur. Passenger Mrs L O Jackson called it the worst storm of her six Atlantic crossings.
