Driver Dead in Desolate Crash Near Ajo Way

A fiery wreck on South Campbell Ave near Ajoway left 53-year-old Joaquin Robles Mendoza dead and 20-year-old Christine Bautista critically injured after a Madison-style crash into Julian Wash. Police say alcohol likely impaired both, with Mendoza found beneath Bautista in the mangled 1949 sedan.

President Eisenhower outlined two new atom fare peace programs at Penn State centennial exercises. Tragic Le Mans crash at 24 hour race kills many

In Le Mans France a collision between a Mercedes-Benz driven by Pierre Levegh and an Austin-Healey armored crowd near the grandstand. The crash caused flames and a half moon shaped crater in the stands. Police estimate 30 to 50 dead with about 100 seriously injured. John Fitch was not in the car.

Teamsters OK New Arizona Truck Contract 1955
