Ford shifts focus from breeder reactors to conventional nuclear power
Commerce Secretary Morton announced a policy shift at the Energy Resources Council meeting. The administration will emphasize conventional light water reactors over breeder technology, citing delays and costs. By 1985 conventional reactors may supply about two percent of U.S. generation, with export potential. China’s oil exports remain undeveloped despite its growing capacity.
