Ex-Convict and Youth Sentenced to Prison

A 44-year-old ex-convict Woodrow Sunday Beach and an 18-year-old Tucson resident Michael Espinoza Ferriza received state prison terms yesterday. Beach, of Baltimore, Md., was ordered to serve 3 to 5 years for grand theft, after being linked to a March 15 unattended station cash register theft. Ferriza drew 1 to 3 years for aggravated assault after pleading guilty to an amended charge related to a December 31 strong arm robbery of two airmen. Visiting Superior Court Judge Porter Murry imposed the sentences in Greens County. The May 25 conviction followed Beach’s prior felony record and the December robbery charges against two other youths were dismissed for lack of identification.

Pima County Justices of the Peace Assn protests a plan to move JP offices to a West 29th Street site near the future county jail. The 29th Street option is under serious consideration, with downtown space rental offers also on the table. The vehicle registration department is slated to move next year to 29th Street, freeing space in the county courthouse basement.
