Canasta Penalty Cards and Going Out Rules
Mrs S H E asks if samba and canasta penalties differ and how to handle multiple penalty cards. Penalty cards stay in the hand and the player chooses which to discard first. In latest rules penalty cards align with samba, and exposed cards must be used on turns if not melded immediately. In two handed samba or canasta there are no penalty cards. Going out bonuses: canasta 100 points for melding out and 100 extra for going out concealed. samba grants 200 points for melding out with no concealed bonus.
