Pima County faces a rough estimate 1957-58 tax rate of 2.03 per 100 with a 46.8 percent levy rise to 5,135,700 as assessed valuation climbs 10 percent to 253,242,000. Sheriff Merritt J. Schwan cites new 25 cent road levy and smaller surplus sales tax receipts for the increase.

Three Aranda children found glass in candy they bought at a store and were released after observation. Deputy findings include a glass shred about the size of a pencil eraser.
