Frutos Begins Ten Week Rule in Paraguay
Asuncion June 4 Chief Justice Juan Manuel Frutos began a ten week term as Paraguay’s provisional president replacing deposed president Higinio Morinigo. Morinigo ousted in a bloodless army coup Thursday with his cabinet resigning. Frutos will serve until August 15 when Juan Natalicio Gonzalez is to be inaugurated. The army said it acted to ensure Gonzalez’s inauguration.
