Oldest Babylonia Law Code Found At Tell Harmal
An unbaked late third millennium Akkadian tablet uncovered near Baghdad is described as the oldest code of laws. Prof. Albrecht Goetze and Iraqi authorities identify it as the law of Eshnunna issued by Bilalama or his son, predating Lipit-Ishtar. The find at Tell Harmal includes texts on family law theft and property, with a duplicate tablet found.
