Secret German minefield charts captured the night before H hour aided the Allied invasion of southern France on D day. Endicott under Lt Cmdr Bulkeley sank a German corvette while destroying its crew and papers exposing the minefield routes. By dawn minesweepers tested safe passage with minimal damage and no loss of transports.
