Protesters from Protestants and Other Americans United for Separation of Church and State urged that future precincts use public buildings. Reverend Hayden Sears Clyde Phillips and Roy Den Lebrecht argued the church rentals could threaten tax exemption and free belief.

County Signs Five Year Radio Lease With GE
The County Board of Supervisors approved a five year lease purchase with General Electric for a new high frequency radio system serving the Sheriff's and Highway departments. A transmitter will operate on Mt Lemmon near the Air Force radar site, replacing Tumamoc Hill gear when ownership of the federal land transfers to the University of Arizona. The setup should be ready for licensing in about 90 days with operation in late fall. Rental costs start at 676 a month for the Highway Department and about 1150 for the Sheriff's, improving coverage and reducing cross state interference.
