Public TV funding pact preserves independence amid interagency dispute
Washington reports a new interagency accord between the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Public Broadcasting Service to define operations and scheduling. The deal lets the service set network content, with CPB approval and a possible third-party arbiter if disagreements arise. Ford Foundation resumes $10 million support as the arrangement shifts funding from CPB to the stations by Sept. 30.
