At Cheyenne Wyoming the second day of the 66th Frontier Days saw Wilbur Plaugher Fresno clown bulldog a steer in 7.9 seconds and Ben Bates Melba Idaho also reach 7.9 seconds earning $1,066 each. Nearly 500 top professional cowboys chase a $100,000 purse as Sonny Davis New Mexico posted 16.4 seconds in steer roping with Everett Shaw Oklahoma moving to 17.6 and a split third at 19.5. Davis won $1,009 in first round money, Shaw $835, and Deakins and Merle Lee Davis $574 each.
