Missing Los Alamos official sparks wide search

H Tracy Snelling 37, public relations director at Los Alamos atomic bomb laboratory, has been missing since last Wednesday. Authorities in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and New Mexico state police are alerted as wife cites a postmarked letter. Snelling, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, had access to highly secret atomic research and did not accompany newsmen to Alamogordo site. He is married with two children.

Passengers Deserted By Crew On Unscheduled Flight

About 30 travelers at Albuquerque airport endured a long wait when a twin engine DC-3 from New York landed, blew a tire, and the crew departed for town. The plane refueled, reboarded, and resumed to Los Angeles after eight stranded passengers bought new tickets.

McLaughlin Crash Victim Dies After Nogales Highway Collision

Eugene McLaughlin 44 of 218 South Fourth Avenue died from a skull fracture after an early morning crash on the Nogales highway six miles south of Tucson. Kenneth Wolston 31, occupant of the convertible, was injured with a broken collar bone and cuts and bruises. The crash left the car overturned after traveling 900 feet along the west side of the road. Deputy Edgar Sims located Wolston about 12 feet from the wreck. eyewitness William Molina described the speed as fast. Damages were about 1000 dollars. Coroner Clark H Johnson said no inquest would be held.

Rain Brings Mercury Dip in Tuc Son Heat Wave

Showers moved through Tuc son on Monday morning easing a heat wave that had pushed temperatures above 103 for four days. Rain began at 7 23 a m for an hour totaling .02 inch city wide with .08 inch at the university branch bringing season total to 3 63 inches. By 2 p m the mercury reached 99 at downtown, after a 105 degree weekend and 104 degree earlier days per university weather bureau.
