Fred G. Hawley retired chemist and former Tucsonan died in Tulsa Oklahoma on Wednesday at age 88. A native of San Bernardino California he worked as chief chemist for Cananea Consolidated Copper Co and International Smelting & Refining Co before moving to Tucson in 1948 to serve as consulting chemist for the U S Bureau of Mines until 1953. He was active in Arizona mineralogy and archaeology and is survived by a son a daughter a brother two sisters and three grandchildren and a great grandchild. Graveside services set for 10 am Monday at South Lawn Memorial Park with Rev G Richard DuFresne officiating.
