Quake Injures Eight Sailors at Fallon Naval Base

A tremor rattled Fallon Nevada injuring eight sailors at the Fallon naval air station. One, Bm/1 Charles J. Collins of San Diego, suffered a fractured leg when a locker toppled on his bunk. Aftershocks, collapsed walls and buckled highways followed, felt from Fallon to San Francisco and the San Joaquin valley.

Six Communist divisions are now within 25 miles of Hanoi as French forces establish a double front south and north of the capital. The French high command says artillery, tanks, and troops are massed to form a defensive wall around Hanoi and Haiphong.
