A historic snowstorm paralyzed northern Arizona with record snowfall and widespread road closures. Snowbound ranches near Williams received limited aid as emergency travel was restricted. cattle feed delivery and evacuations were underway amid icy highways and drifting snow.
A Senate interior affairs panel approved a 750000 emergency program to rescue snowbound sheep and cattle in Nevada Utah Wyoming North Dakota South Dakota and Montana. The plan runs to April 15 with a coordination role for a designee and includes food and fuel for Indians if needed. Air lifts for 180000 stranded Nevada livestock continue with hay delivered to 10000 sheep on three ranches within a 290 mile radius.
In San Francisco 7500 auto dealers warned that the honeymoon is over as used cars outnumber buyers. Ford dealer Charles C. Welch urged stock taking while Ray O. Burnett of Portland agreed the seller’s market era ended. Henry J. Kaiser criticized federal credit limits hurting new car sales.

Runoff from snow and rain in the Salt river valley boosted reservoir storage to 289,296 acre feet on Tuesday. This is 86,000 acre feet more than a year ago. Since the storm began January 13, about 125,000 acre feet have flowed in.

Harri son E Spangler and Carroll Reece criticized Scott while Ralph F Gates emerged as a possible rival backed by Taft and Stassen backers as a Willkie campaign veteran telegram hinted strong odds.
Rev. Dr. Peter Marshall, 46, chaplain of the Senate, died of a heart attack at George Washington University Hospital after being stricken at home Tuesday.
