Vandalism hits plastering office amid child threat note

Legion Asks Stiff Penalties For Tax Exemption Frauds

The American Legion proposed harsher penalties for fraudulently obtained veterans and widows tax exemptions and opposed limits on exemptions to state property taxes. A legion bill would implement a $300 fine or six months jail for transfers or aids to transfer property to gain exemptions. Timothy King reported on a Maricopa district study showing modest savings for no exemptions.
