In Macon on January 22 Daniel Mathis tried to place a telephone call but could not reach a number. The operator reported his language as vile and he was bailed into court on a drunk charge and sentenced to 10 months. City Prosecutor Oscar Long told Judge Cecil Baldwin the language was too offensive to call the operator as a witness.
Sen Morse of Oregon proposed an April target date for a senate vote on repealing Taft Hartley while Democratic leader Lucas urged a faster pace. Morse would end hearings by March and give the committee March to prepare the bill, with debate to begin by early April. Lucas criticized the timetable.
City Engineer Glenton G. Sykes announced the state highway department traffic origin and destination survey will be ready by February 15. W. C.
