Airman of Year Davis-Monthan Nominates Larry F Smith
Davis-Monthan AFB names T Sergeant Larry F Smith of the 100th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing as Airman of the Year for the second straight year. The aircraft radio maintenance supervisor leads the armament and electronics maintenance squadron and has broad duties beyond his shop chief role. He is praised for supervising reparable communications systems and helped earn SAC evaluation praise. Smith serves as a radio debriefer and training monitor while active in PTA Cub Scouts and School District 1 Committee of 100. He and wife Marilyn live at 3320 E Mossman Road with their three children.

The ninth rabid animal in a month was recorded by county health officials. A cat from 2244 E 17th St was brought to the county animal shelter. The cat had not bitten anyone, officials said.
Jet Tanker Missing Over Washington Snowbound Range
Search teams scoured rugged snow covered terrain near the Washington Idaho line for a KC135 jet tanker with nine aboard lost after approaching Fairchild Air Force Base. Last contact came near Mt Spokane and crews heard emergency signals but could not locate a crash site in the storm and deep snow.

Mop demo uses kids to test new quick action product
London agency hired 10 children to dirty a hotel room with tomato paste orange juice and green muck for a demonstration of a new quick action mop. The kids slid in the puddles while the mop cleaned the room but not the children. It was described as a do it yourself project.
