Seven Ounce Beer Can Bill Clears Arizona House

The Arizona House passed a seven ounce beer can bill 43 to 30 after an hour of debate over packaging rules. The measure allows seven ounce cans in package stores, opposing sides warned of effects on local brewers and youth access. The vote sent the bill to the Senate as lawmakers also approved higher unemployment benefits and a broadened voting period for president and vice president.

Masked robber holds Circle K at 5 am

A masked youth robbed Circle K at 6244 E 22nd St early today, taking 80 to 90 dollars from two registers and the safe after shoving clerk Walter Brown with a gun. The culprit, 5 ft 9 in, 150 pounds, wore a nylon stocking over his head and a light jacket. Police suspect a gun stolen from Scaramuzzo's Gun Shop. The shop reported 300 to 400 dollars loss.

Tucsonita Water Co. gets rate increase approval

The Arizona Corporation Commission granted higher rates for Tucsonita Water Co. The minimum rises to 3.75 for the first 4000 gallons and 0.35 per extra 1000 gallons, up from 3.00 and 0.25. The firm serves about 210 residents along Ruthrauff Road east of Shannon Road.

Gov Paul Fannin signed a new obscenity law making it a misdemeanor with a 300 dollar fine and up to six months in jail for printing copying manufacturing selling renting lending transporting interstate commerce distributing or exhibiting any obscene item or offering to do so.

Arizona Senator Proposes Reapportionment By Population

Rep. Martin Toscano introduces a constitutional amendment to reapportion the Arizona State Senate by population starting with the 1968 Legislature.
