Finance Director James Kay Jr warned the City could run a $300000 short next year due to limited sales tax gains and pending bond redemptions. The council postponed decisions on the Levy's Store purchase and downtown beautification, planning to act by March 16 after a March 15 sales tax update.
The County Planning and Zoning Commission continued the CB-1 amendment hearing to March 31. TEC Inc plans a potential 20 000 square foot facility near Linda Vista Road and Tucson Florence Highway, with opposition from neighborhood groups. The plan requires a first engineering research facility on a 10 acre parcel before any processing or assembly uses. TEC could locate elsewhere, including Phoenix, and would employ about 100 people if built. Opponents include Oro Valley and Casas Adobes associations and Skyline Country Club Estates residents. In other action, American Mobile Home Corp won a rezoning for a rental trailer park at River Road and Oracle Road, with about 100 seniors attending. Kamrath’s Roller Coaster Road seven-acre CR-2 to CR-4 rezoning was sent to the Board of Supervisors after a 3-3 vote. United Mobile Homes’ Kolb Road Stella Road proposal for 127 acres plus 50 acres of commercial was continued.

It aims to create planned developments with open space, allow parks churches libraries museums and schools, set minimum 20 acres and density of one mobile home per 000 square feet, building height up to 30 feet with two off street parking spaces per home, and selling lots in subdivisions as conventional housing.
Anaconda Copper announces 40 percent cut in Chilean deliveries for March due to production difficulties not tied to Chilean government ownership. Chairman C. Jay Parkinson cites furnace and labor issues and says shipments originally planned around 50,000 tons. Anaconda Sales will assist customers seeking alternative copper supplies.
