Former City Purchasing Agent William J. Bray Jr. was indicted on eight felony charges tied to a grand jury probe of steel purchases. Bray surrendered on bond, facing grand theft and perjury counts over 1957-58 purchases and false taxable property lists. The probe covered 11 steel lots bought for $45,967, much of which was unused. Kennedy rejects Khrushchev bid for Geneva summit

President Kennedy after a talk with Prime Minister Macmillan rejected Nikita Khrushchev’s bid for a summit at the Geneva disarmament meeting.
