First rodeo parade draws diverse first-time watchers

A town rodeo parade drew adults and families from several places. Tourists from Barbados and Nabha India, plus Western outfits and a Confederate flag, mixed with locals as spectators, riders, and a street-side crowd watched the procession.

Six Hurt as Parade Horses Struck by Buggies

Six persons were injured during a parade when horses involved in the event caused a series of accidents. Charles Lamb suffered a leg gash and his daughter Gretchen received a chin cut. Barbara Ann Longoria sustained a hand injury and Mary Low Rohr was kicked in the stomach.

Parade Recreates Historic Auto Era on Sixteen Blocks

Spectators lined 24 blocks as 400 parade units rolled past in a long, varied procession mixing period costumes and modern floats. Spectators enjoyed an unusually clear winter day with a bright sun as flags dominated the front and riders recalled the age from Cadillacs to pioneer wagons.

The parade showcased numerous winners including Alameda County Mounted Posse best riding group and Prescott Centennial Group best civic and historical entries. Arizona organizations dominated musical groups led by University of Arizona Band and Tucson Highlanders with out of state Escuela Secundaria Federal Cananea Mexico earning best entry.
