Arizona House OKs Seven Ounce Beer Cans Measure

The Arizona House approved a bill allowing beer sales in seven ounce cans, pending Senate approval. The session also advanced bills on property tax exemptions review for veterans, vehicle registration shifting to January and February, deterring tax fraud, delinquent property sale protections, and reallocation of funds for state juvenile institutions.

Harvill Defends Growth of Arizona Universities

University of Arizona President Dr. Rich ard A. Harvill told a Lions Club gathering that rapid growth in Arizona’s two state universities is manageable with strong direction and organization. He noted a 22.7 percent rise in student numbers last year, discussed potential future expansion, and cited about $8 million in federal research funding this year.

Teen Negro Pickets Still in March

In Brooklyn, 50 to 75 school-age youths gathered outside the Board of Education amid protests over alleged segregation. Police used 100 officers to break up clashes with white students from St. John’s University. 22 arrested, including 17 teenagers and five adults for truancy violations. Reverend Milton Galamison accused police of brutality.

Three Year Old Boy Struck By Auto

A three year old boy suffered a head injury after darting into traffic on East 22nd Street near South Columbus Boulevard. David Kingsley, son of Mr and Mrs Norman J Kingsley, is in satisfactory condition at Tucson Medical Center with head trauma and multiple cuts. The sedan driver was John W Adams of 217 N Melwood Ave. no citations issued. The accident occurred about 250 feet east of the Columbus Boulevard crosswalk.
