Modest housewife earns heroism award for rescue
Mrs. Katherine Lange, mother of three, received the seventh annual Meritorious Award from Local 479 and the Tucson Fire Department for rescuing three children from a burning 1960 auto on Oct. 15, 1966. She braved smoke to open a door and carry the youngsters to safety while bystanders watched.
