The Tucson school district faces a possible end to Merle Moore & Co. audits after a state examiner ruled Moore's services illegal. Superintendent Robert D. Morrow said the current exam is the first in 17 years and that if Moore must exit, a state audit should occur annually for board and staff protection.
Judge Lee Garrett imposes a 90 day county jail term on Manuel V. Lopez 37 of 325 W. Oregon Jr for drunk driving. Lopez begins serving May 1 after sentencing yesterday. The court also handles other actions including probation on related driving offenses and varied continuances in numerous cases.
A 27 year old Tucsonian in fair condition at Tucson medical center after his car jumped a drainage ditch on East 23nd street and struck two wooden posts. Tom Darby Walker and Avot Ellington pi suffered fractured ribs a punctured lung and a laceration of the week. Deputy Sheriff Charles Mine primated Harker ran a stop sign on East vind street at South Wilma road, jumped 27 feet across the drainage ditch hit two wood supports for a sign and traveled 20 more feet before stopping. Damage to the 1950 car was 500 dollars. Citations prepending Harker release from hospital.
The council meeting at Fo5par Med Cross room 2228 Cherewave will discuss Homecrafters, a group aiding handicapped persons to self support. Main speaker William Creamer, director of Trome crafters, outlines workshop programs including woodworking weaving and a bank hinder.
Word reached here of the death of Abs. Charlotte Hensel Reinke in Berlin Germany February 19. A Tucson resident for several years she had gone to visit her mother. Burial will be in Germany. She leaves a brother Fritz Hensel of Tucson and other relatives. Address given 2520 Ef Monte Vista Dr.
Twenty seven Arizona city managers and clerks are set for the third annual Municipal Administrators association conference in the city. Ray Wilson Phoenix city manager and Clarence Ridley Chicago executive director of the International City Managers association are principal speakers with a dinner opening at the Pioneer hotel. W A Moeur director of the Arizona Municipal league will report on legislative progress followed by round table discussions on legislative and administrative topics. Visitors will tour city facilities Friday morning and Ridley will speak at noon as panel discussions on personnel and fit area proceed.
Councilman Dennis B Weaver, chair of the license committee, urged suspending licensing of private music teachers and refunding all fees paid this year. Teachers protested City Treasurer Rimabal’s August fee of 20 dollars per year, saying their service to the community does not justify licensing. The committee noted the treasurer acted under a general ordinance and asked Hall to provide a list of unlicensed cases for future consideration.

A meeting of Red Cross campaign leaders from the outlying business division is scheduled at Red Cross headquarters. Edmund Atviaga, division chairman, and cochairman Donald Goorner will outline plans to solicit over 1,700 business firms and improve contributions. James and Douglas, fund chairmen, will present the general plan to reach a $152,533 goal. The drive begins March 1.
