Woman on Crutches Escapes Kitchen Fire Injury

Beulah Mae Chipman narrowly escaped serious injury when flammable fluid ignited in her kitchen at 2027 N Park Ave. She on crutches fled the blaze around 9 am. First degree burns to face and arms were treated at the scene. Firefighters used a fog nozzle to extinguish the flames. Building damage estimated at 500 dollars with 100 dollars for contents.

Scout Breakfast to Hear General at Elks Club Kickoff

Brig. Gen. William C. Bacon commander of the 12th Strategic Aerospace Division will speak at 8 a.m. tomorrow at a Boy Scout membership drive breakfast at the Elks Club. More than 200 people expected. Proceeds go to the Catalina Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Highlanders Bay Pipers Band will play. Frank Drachman Jr. handles reservations.

Nixon To Testify On Executive Disability Issues

Former Vice President Richard M. Nixon will testify March 5 before a Senate subcommittee on presidential disability and vacancies in the vice presidency. Chairman Birch Bayh said hearings would resume February 24. Others listed include Herbert Brownell Jr. and Walter Craig of Phoenix, president of the American Bar Association.
