Alleged Killer Surrenders in Wife Slaying Case

Publisher W B Kelly Dies at 72 in Arizona
William B. Kelly 72 newspaper publisher and former state senator from Graham County died in a Phoenix hospital after moving from Tucson. A Democrat, he owned the Graham County Guardian in Safford and served as executive secretary to Gov. Jones in 1939. Survivors include two daughters and two sons. He will lie in state at Reilly’s chapel with a requiem mass at All Saints church before burial in Phoenix.

Seek Release Of 4 Marines
SHANGHAI February 14. U S marine planes dropped leaflets near Tsingtao to open talks for the release of four Marines held by the Reds. A Navy spokesman said contact with the Communists is underway and efforts to obtain their release continue. Communist radio confirmed five Marines were captured Christmas Day. one died of wounds. Reds charged the men aided government troops north of Tsingtao. US authorities deny the charges. The four were on special passes for a hunting trip. the fifth was absent without leave. Their jeep was found bullet ridden and burned.

Traffic Deaths Increase By Three In Arizona
Three more highway deaths were reported by the Arizona highway patrol, bringing the year’s total to 48, 13 more than last year at this date. The deceased include Horton F. Jones, 67, Phoenix. Little Crow, 84, Indian transient. and Santiago Medina, 67, Mesa. Jones died in St Monica’s hospital after injuries from a Sunday Phoenix crash with a car driven by Jack Henry. Little Crow died Friday night on Grand Avenue when struck by a station wagon driven by Wendell Hodil. An inquest will be held Monday. Medina died Friday night in a Mesa hospital from injuries from a Thursday collision on the Mesa Tempe highway west of Mesa City.
