School Bonds Net Tax Hike Halved in District 1 vote

Group Votes To Ask New Grand Jury Resolution Gets Full Approval
POPA last night unanimously adopted a resolution calling for a new Pima County Grand Jury to complete work begun by a dissolved jury. Atty. Irving Kipnis said the Superior Court judges would be asked to empanel a new jury immediately, and that dismissed jurors might be questioned to share information with the new panel. The action follows petitions signed by more than 11,000 residents in August 1958 seeking investigations of irregular and illegal expenditures in the School District and irregularities in the county assessor’s records. County Atty. Harry Ackerman will review the prior records but will not request a new grand jury.
