Phoenix Feb 12 The Arizona Legislature remained deadlocked as the senate voted 9 to 7 with three absent to appoint a committee to notify the house and governor it was ready to adjourn sine die thus killing any current underground water code. The house had supported a bill but the senate favored adjournment delaying action. The code aimed at critically dry southern and low elevation areas was already approved by the house 33 to 14 with six absent.

J F McMahon constable of the Ajo precinct was arrested by Pima County Undersheriff M T Guiney on charges of selling liquor without a license and running a gaming establishment. He posted 500 bond and faced arraignment before Superior Court Judge J Mercer Johnson on Feb 20 at Ajo. Guiney said McMahon defended himself, asking how officials knew he lacked a license. The case followed a Feb 6 raid on a bar run by Moe Mahon in Gibson adjoining Ajo, where 15 people were taken in, 12 players and three employees. most pleaded guilty and received suspended jail terms.
