The Bernard F. Warburton home at 2649 W. Wallye Place was leveled in a fire reported at 5:56 p.m. Three units fought the blaze with the utility shed origin causing a gas tank burst. Estimated losses reach 18,000 for the house and 2,000 for contents while investigators review the scene.
Thirty six Arizona House members back a bill and constitutional amendment to raise annual pay to $6,000 plus $500 monthly and $20 per day for duties. Current setup pays $3,600 yearly with subsistence and special-session rules. The change would take effect with the 29th Legislature in January 1969, pending voter ratification.
