Marana Man Gets Life For Slaying Wife
A Marana cotton picker, Arthur Lee Ard, was sentenced to life in prison for the October killing of his estranged wife. Ard pleaded guilty to second degree murder after a prior manslaughter challenge failed, firing seven shots from a .22 pistol at the Ed Anway Ranch near Ma rana. The victim died at St Marys Hospital. Ard's plea and sentencing followed court battles and pressure from Deputy County Atty. John Claborne.
