Ex-patient Donaldson wins damages over illegal confinement

Kenneth Donaldson, once confined for two decades at Florida State Hospital, secured a $20,000 judgment in Tallahassee against two doctors for illegal confinement without treatment. The case follows the 1978 Supreme Court ruling that unjust confinement violates the Constitution. Rhodesia Guerrillas Kill Seven Missionaries at Musami

In Rhodesia seven white Catholic missionaries including four nuns were killed by black guerrillas at Musami 36 miles north of Salisbury. Two Jesuit priests and a Jesuit lay brother died along with four Dominican nuns. a fourth Jesuit was wounded. The attack drew condemnation from Archbishop Chakaipa who called for an end to violence and urged protection for the African people affected by the four year struggle.
