Bisbee murder trial in Epstein case enters second day

52-year-old George Epstein of Tucson remains on trial for the fatal Oct 9 double shooting in a Bisbee upholstery shop that killed Joseph Skinner and Andy Shepard. Eight women and four men deliberated late into the night as the case focused on whether the shooting was deliberate or accidental.

Reds Seek Full Dress Conference On Indochina

Washington reports say Red China formally proposed a full dress conference with Britain and Russia to include Chou En-lai and Dulles. The plan was discussed at the Eisenhower Eden talks. Britain and the United States reportedly oppose it. The Geneva framework of 1954 would be invoked to consult elections in Viet Nam in mid-1956, but talks have not begun.

Positive ID confirms clothing with remains of John Fastman

The sheriff's office reported that clothing found with what may be John Fastman's remains, discovered by Boy Scouts on January twenty first, has been positively identified by Fastman's son. A coroner's jury into the death was recessed late Wednesday pending further information. Eastman, aged 72, had been missing since last May, and his son has returned to Tucson from Mexico.

School Milk Hike Approved by Senate Agriculture Panel

The Senate Agriculture Committee backed unanimously a bill to raise the school free milk program by 25 million dollars yearly, authorizing the current level for two fiscal years and adding 10 million for the remainder of the current school year. It also provides 2 million more for brucellosis control, increases the related program to 20 million over two years, and moves to omnibus farm legislation with Senate action planned.

Arizona Wildcats Game Shelved By Snow Drifts

Canyon, Texas was to host the Border Conference basketball matchup between the University of Arizona and West Texas State but heavy snow six to eight feet high stranded the Arizona Wildcats. Coach Fred Enke said a direct flight to Lubbock was grounded in Midland and bus travel to Canyon was planned if possible. No rescheduling plans were announced.

Snowstorm Buries Texas Plains Paralyzing Region

A record snowfall blanketed the Texas South Plains and Panhandle, with Plainview reporting 24 to 29 inches and nearby Lubbock Amarillo enduring about 10 inches. At least 15 deaths statewide were blamed on the storm as National Guardsmen and the highway patrol rescued some 100 stranded motorists. Cattle on the open range faced danger and schools closed.

Man Found Dead Here In Tucson Architect Connected

The body of a 37 year old man tentatively identified as Allen Marrow was found in a small house at 1436 E Roger Rd with no sign of external violence. Deputies say death could have occurred up to 24 hours before discovery shortly after 4 am. Marrow’s mother, in Phoenix, had been unable to reach him by phone. Coroner Clark H Johnson ordered a medical exam and the body released to Brings Mortuary. Marrow was recently associated with the Tucson firm Scholer Sakellar and Fuller in Chicago.

Arizona weighs 48 million road plan over three years

The State Highway Planning Committee reviews a 48 million dollar three year road program for Arizona. FBI Doubts Irvin Is Motel Bandit

Police and FBI officials express considerable doubt that the calm gunman who robbed a Phoenix Desert Sun Motel was Leslie Irvin, the Indiana jail escapee.
