Kino Kin To Be At Unveiling

Academy Chief Named New Leader for Coast Guard Academy

Rear Adm Chester R Bender 50 will become head of the Coast Guard Academy in New London in July, trading jobs with current superintendent Rear Adm Willard J Smith. A West Virginian and 1936 academy graduate, Bender led an air sea rescue unit in 1943 and served in the Far East before promotion to rear admiral last July.

Senate OKs Governor's Mansion Bill in Arizona

The Arizona Senate approved a governor's mansion bill 17 to 11 with a minority bloc effort to amend defeated 17 to 11. The chamber also advanced 280 bills on justice salaries and board vacancy procedures while backing a land office relocation memorial for St. George to Fredonia.
