Eisenhower Sets New Foreign Policy After State of the Union

Chinese Navy Ready To Raid and Threats on Formosa

Vice Adm. Ma Chi-Chuang says the Nationalist Chinese navy is prepared for commando raids on the Communist coast and concedes major attacks are only a matter of time. Adm. Radford hints Formosa air raids could end neutralization policy as Ma meets Eisenhower in Washington. Ma tours Honolulu en route, noting Formosa air force strength and coincidences with the presidential decision.

North Sea Storm Deluge Plunges Europe Into Chaos

A hurricane driven flood of the North Sea left at least 775 dead across Britain Holland Belgium and Germany with fears of 1000 or more. Dikes broke flooding one seventh of Holland and isolating tens of thousands. Rescue efforts surged across Britain and the continent as U S aid promised.

Netherlands Prince Will Return Home

Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands plans to return to his flood struck homeland joining Queen Juliana in my time of their tragedy. He will leave by plane tomorrow to be with the Dutch people during their disaster. He had been due to attend New York Citys 300th founding anniversary ceremonies.

Arizona House moves to repeal home buyer completion bonds

The Arizona House of Representatives introduced a replacing bill to undo last year’s completion bond law that required contractors to supply bonds or buyers to sign waivers. The measure aimed to prevent material liens on new homes after buyers paid for construction, a policy championed by Rep. Ray Martin in Pima County. It remains unclear if the repeal will gain support this session.

Sabres Down Two MIGs In Korean Air Battles

In northwest Korea, Sabrejets tangled with MIGs all along MIG alley. Pilots reported downing two Red jets and damaging two more as a 15th straight day of dog fights continued. The air force shielded B 29 bombers after a large strike near Chinnampo, destroying buildings and triggering explosions.

Open Pits Bill Aims Protection After Tucson Drowning

Arizona House considers an Open Pits measure sponsored by Mrs. Julliette Willis to prohibit abandoned pits within city limits and a five mile band. The act targets unguarded excavations seen as dangerous after a water filled pit drowning near Tucson. A separate bill would officialize the name Hoover Dam for Boulder Dam.
