City Council Plans Special Session On Four Projects
City councilors summoned for tonight’s special session to act on four projects as part of completing the 1941 program. Jaastad notes next regular meeting on January 5 includes annexation plans for east suburbs bounded by East Broadway, Country Club Road, East Eighth and East Sixth streets and the east city limits. A resident cites petitions from a small group claiming 51 percent of area wealth to be annexed, suggesting the area’s inclusion may exclude El Encanto, Colonia Solana and San Clemente. Action on joining Tucson remains uncertain, while progress on the Chamber of Commerce annexation program will be reviewed. The council will also authorize moving the temporary Southern Pacific depot to Municipal Airport South for headquarters use by Works Progress Administration crews. Third topic covers purchasing Mundo Vista Water Co and consolidating civil service ordinances with later amendments.
