Officials say reduced car use will conserve tires and delay direct consumer motor fuel rationing if needed for the war effort. The oil office has prepared a consumer rationing plan for emergencies, details not revealed, while transportation of oil remains a sensitive focus as tankers may be diverted to support Pacific forces.
