Wives Try Paris Talks for Missing Air Force Men

In Paris 51 hours of frustration but hope lingers for Tucson wives Shirley Appleby and Karen Wood and 94 children. They sought word on missing Air Force Maj. Ivan Appleby and Lt. Col. Patrick Wood, held by North Vietnam, but officials would not meet them or release lists.

Ruby Pilcher 66 Dies in Memphis

Funeral services and burial for former Tucson resident Ruby Pilcher will be held in Memphis. She died on Christmas Day. A Water Valley, Mississippi native, she moved to Tucson in 1951 and worked seven years as a nurse's aide with children at Tucson Medical Center, where she was affectionately known as grandma to many child patients.

Agnew Plans Briefing With Pacific Commander

Vice President Spiro Agnew met with Admiral John S. McCain Jr. in Honolulu before leaving for Guam on a 37 000 mile Far East tour. He traveled with wife Judy and stayed at Makalapa near Pearl Harbor amid tight security. He aimed to gauge reaction to the Nixon doctrine and may visit Vietnam troops unannounced during a 25 day Asian trip.

Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme plans a May visit to Kenyon College Ohio to receive an honorary degree. Palme studied at Kenyon in 1947 48 and counts actor Paul Newman as a classmate.
