Arizona copper income fell to 300.9 million dollars in the year, despite record production of 510000 tons. The decline stems from low market prices 29.5 cents per pound, as the state also reported declines across lead zinc gold and silver totals.

State Tax Forms Mailed Out In Arizona

State Tax Commission officials report about 250000 Arizona residents will receive income tax forms an increase of nearly 30000 from last year. Forms go to single filers with 1000 or more income and to married couples with 2000 or more. Filing is required even though tax due has been collected through withholding.

Two Deaths Boost Pima Road Toll

Two fatal accidents raised Pima County’s tally to 51. Lonnie Miner, 29, died at 12 30 in a collision of a motorcycle and car at S 12th Ave and Canada St. Raymond Smith, 23, was injured. Henry Lopez, 77, of Espanola New Mexico, died in a head on crash on the Benson highway.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs approves a 25 year lease on about 12000 acres of Papago Reservation land southwest of Tucson. Freesch Land Ventures and James Stewart Co. will develop up to 10000 acres with wells and a concrete irrigation ditch system. Rental splits go to the tribe and Chukut Kuk District.
